We wish all of you a wonderful Easter! We are feeling very thankful for all of our friends and family this spring. We went to church this morning and had fun showing off Audrey's little pink dress and flower shoes! Tonight, we will be going to dinner at Aunt Carmel's. It's great to have family in town!
The Easter Bunny visited the Strasser household last night. Audrey was so excited to see all the chocolate and an Elmo Pal this morning. :) It's a good thing she likes the same chocolate as her parents!
Speaking of eating, Audrey passed her 2nd swallow study! They had her swallow baby food and x-rayed it as it went down. We were all pleased to see that she does not aspirate on puree. So we are working on feeding her baby food (pears at this point) and she's a little bit interested -- but she's pretty young still. We are feeding her through her g-tube in the mean time. That's been an interesting, time consuming process! We will definitely throw a party when Audrey is able to eat by mouth and we can remove the g-tube! But we are happy that she is gaining weight and thriving, thanks to plenty of nutrition. She is now almost 12 pounds!
Audrey is smiling a ton and beginning to laugh! She's very vocal. We have whole conversations in 'Audrey-language' every day. She loves to stand up with our support, and is trying hard to sit up. We think she is growing some front teeth, which is a bit painful for the poor little thing.
We got a call this week from Dr. Joan Han, the leading specialist in WAGR. She is a great lady. We are involved in a study she is conducting of the WAGR syndrome. When Audrey is 2 and 5 years of age, they want to fly us to Maryland to assess Audrey. Dr. Han is full of information. It's GREAT to have her as a resource! Eventually, we'll want to attend a WAGR weekend over there, in which many of the families get together and get to know one another. If you have time to check out the site, http://www.wagr.org/, it's a good one!
We have been blessed with some great visitors recently. Aunt Holly and Cousin Ilah came to help us out last month. Audrey loved bonding with them for a whole week! Grandpa and Grandma Strasser and Godmother Jennifer are coming this week to spend time with us and attend Audrey's baptism. I'm sure we'll be sending pictures of that next week!
Thank you for all of your love and support!
Happy Spring to all!
